Education and Research
The Psychology Council of New South Wales is established by and functions under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (NSW). Section 41S of that Act provides that it may establish an Education and Research account, specifically for research and educational purposes relating to the health, performance and conduct of registered psychologists in New South Wales.
Grants
In its Education and Research Program, the Psychology Council can:
- commission specific research to address strategic and/or priority operational needs;
- provide grants to applicants to undertake approved research projects; and
- commission joint research with other health professional councils, academic institutions or regulatory bodies, such as the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or the Health Care Complaints Commission.
The Psychology Council aims to improve health practitioner regulation by investing in research which includes:
- advancing knowledge through research;
- accelerating research translation by sharing research activities and publishing findings;
- providing evidence to improve the management of individual complaints; and
- providing evidence to improve the regulatory process.
Currently, the Psychology Council has no Education and Research grants on offer.
